I do worry I made Elias a bit too soft in that fic. but also the point was him conceding, more out of exhaustion than anything else. was he too soft?

the problem with writing jonelias is that you need to have both Jon and Elias conceding. taking a step in the other's direction. recognising any feelings that may exist and then doing something about it. and while the former is more possible, the latter is... challenging. neither of them are exactly warm or inviting people, they would rather keep their distance. they have different reasons, of course. Jonah has his own goals, his apocalypse to worry about, he can't get too close to Jon, partially out of fear of losing the perfect lynchpin for the apocalypse. and Jon would at first worry about Elias being his boss and then about him being evil

this is what appeals to me. I like that they don't ever choose each other yet there is something there. they are connected both through their own actions and the forces surrounding them. it changes nothing. I love all of it. I really do. it does, however, make writing fic a bit challenging. what do I even write about that is both interesting yet in character?
